CAREER OPPORTUNITIES WITH WALLACE STONE
FOR
SENIOR & GRADUATE DESIGN ENGINEERS
Introduction
We specialise in the provision of maritime consultancy services to a wide range of UK clients, from our offices in Glasgow and Dingwall. We have a successful record of over 30 years of innovative design, frequently in some of the most remote and beautiful areas of the country. The Projects section of our website gives details of many of our recent commissions.
Our work is characterised by attention to appropriate detail, robust design, concise and readable documents, and clear and attractive drawings.
Our staff adopt a hands-on approach to the design and management of our projects. We have a keen interest in the practical as well as the theoretical aspects of the engineering of our projects. Several of our staff have been trained as commercial divers, giving us additional insight into the design and construction of our projects.
We currently hold a three year contract with The Highland Council as their preferred consultant for Marine Works and for Coastal Protection Works. Our range of other Clients includes Councils such as Western Isles, Aberdeenshire and North Ayrshire, Harbour Authorities such as Cromarty, Mallaig and Fraserburgh, Limited Companies such as Aggregate Industries and Associated British Ports, Contractors undertaking Design and Build work, and many local public groups promoting marine works projects.
To assist in our increasing workload, we are seeking applications from Senior and Graduate Design Civil Engineers to join our staff of Civil Marine Works enthusiasts.
Please note that enquiries are also welcome from candidates with substantially higher levels of relevant experience than those outlined below, including those seeking opportunities at the most senior level.
Senior Engineer
Applications are invited for the post of Senior Design Engineer.
Senior Engineers should be Chartered (MICE or MI StructE) and should have not less than six years post-graduation experience. Preference will be given to applicants with experience which includes the design and procurement of civil marine works.
The post will offer the chance to act as team member on some projects, and to manage a variety of marine works projects yourself, including Client contact and liaison with statutory bodies.
Candidates should be able to demonstrate experience in the design of major structures in steel and reinforced concrete, with a good working knowledge of relevant design software. Design experience should preferably include marine works structures.
Candidates should possess good written and verbal communications skills, and be keen to progress their development as engineers and project managers on marine works projects.
The post includes the requirement to undertake occasional site visits as required for the projects undertaken.
Successful candidates may be offered the opportunity to train as commercial divers (if they wish), although it should be noted that we employ both diving and non-diving engineering staff and this is not a requirement for the post.
